Does your washing machine smell bad?
This is not your first time having a washing machine that smells. It will only worsen if you donβt eliminate the smell now! Unfortunately, this is a common problem, especially with front-load washers.
Here are some tips to help get rid of that awful smell:
Dry immediately
Right after you finish washing, you need to remove any excess moisture. If you have a front load washer, wipe (with a clean, dry towel) around the front door seal, especially under the flap. Leave the door open/cracked. Run empty
Run your washer empty at least once or twice a month. Once the washer has filled up with water, add a cup of white vinegar and then push pause for about 15 or 20 minutes. Let the vinegar penetrate so that it is more effective. Then, resume the wash cycle (if you donβt have vinegar, use lemon juice instead).
Baking soda
Baking soda is also an excellent kitchen product that is great for the smell and removes many washer stains and detergent residues. You can scrub the tub using baking soda or add a whole pack of baking soda to an empty hot water cycle. This will also assist you in getting rid of some of those nasty bacteria and fungus that sometimes get in the tub and door seals.
Just repeat these steps once or twice a month, and you should see those nasty stains and that smelly washer odor disappear quickly.
